Independent Living Then and Now is a research report from the American Seniors Housing Association that compares how the underlying attributes and expectations of independent living residents changed between 2012 and 2019, and examines how these changes are realigning residents’ priorities. Independent living residents participating in the 2012 and 2019 surveys were divided into four categories: freestanding independent living; combined independent living and assisted living; entrance fee continuing care retirement communities; and rental continuing care retirement communities. The report, which was compiled for ASHA by ProMatura Group, explores demographic characteristics, health and abilities, financial information, making the decision to move, and more.
